Tomo's Tour Wrapup

December 5, 2008

Home now and happy to be but I'm deep in the grips of jet lag. Seems to me, over these last few days, that mid afternoon is a great time for a 3 hour "nap" and I find myself wide awake at 4 in the morning. This moment, being one of the later and with an ever growing to do list rattling 'round my head I figured I might as well get up and do something useful. Not sure whether blogging qualifies as useful as there are more pressing things on the agenda today but at 5:00am I'm not going outside to cut firewood.

Others in the band have commented here about what a great time we all had over the last 8 weeks. I echo the sentiments and will simply say that in all my years on the road I've never enjoyed a tour more than this one.

I, like many, enjoy documenting the touring experience with photographs and figured it might be an enjoyable way for some of you to get a little taste of what went on out there. I'll start with the shots below and maybe, over time, add more.

Enjoy,
Tomo

Hey there y'all, worra inspiring set of handle bars y'all managed. So good to see you doing the good work whilst you were away in the us of a. So i saw you guys just the other day in that church in the heart of government town LDN. You were all so close it was real hard not to grab you all and invite you back to mine. I live down on the south coast in Brighton so it would have been a rush to get us all to the last train, but if any of you fancy  a trip down this way its a lovely place to visit with lots of fun to be had and a fancy futon bed to rest your weary head at the end of it all.
Still i did get a chance to hear what an accomplished sound you've developed whilst you were away. Course nothing compares to that gig at the electric picnic when it was like an sonic subatomic melting pot of soul. Crikey it was all rather sedate in comparison. And a little frustrating to have to sit whilst you guys created such a groovy sound. Youse is just all so funky, i just wanna shake shake shake when i listen.
And listen i do..alot. I've had me seasew since it was released, over 3 months now already, i just can't decide which is my favorite track . Maybe you can help and start up a forum for us souls shaking and swaying on the deep seas of seasew. It is just sooo good, each listen brings a new moment of beauty from its depths. Its like swimming in a shallow turquoise sea every sense a tingling sonically. Ok i'm getting poetic now but have you ever been surrounded by tropical fish and gazed at the swirling coral. No me neither but i imagine its kinda like that.
ANYWAY, so which is the the favorite track for all your fans, purlease set up some kind of forum cause i just can't decide... I love i know, it so groovy and uplifting or keep it all cos its so swampy. They're all so inventive, exquisite, passionate and swingful, pistachio its just great no? But right now i'm going for....  pure emotional power.. and the conviction and bravery of the voice.. track 9 teeth. Lisa i don't know if you ever read this but i admire your voice in this world so much. It is so good to know its around. Its soo good to finally hear you sing your hearts songs. Hang on i'm listening to lille now and well aah worra am i gonna do..thats the one, lille is the no1 track..Yes thats it.
Until perhaps i start it over again with ocean and a rock.
So wots a guy to do.. I'll send you a snap of me with a handle bar if you let me know which are your favorite trax, and save me from the sweet agony of trying to decide.
So all the merriness of this festive season to you and a fantastic 2009 to youse. May the road rise up to meet y'all, i'm hoping to be in ireland just before spring so maybe i'll catch you all again then. Deadly!
Gaetan xx
