Thanks for a great year

Hello there,

After a week of not letting go of the good times I'm laid up with a sore throat and a mountain of lists for ticking. Most of them involve the baking of presents so it's fine.

Our homecoming show in Vicar street was a fittingly joyous occasion to finish off the year for myself, the band, Una and Ben. I thought it was a crazy idea when Uns first suggested it early on in the year but am very happy to be proved wrong.

Click to see "Lille" The gig began with the first showing of the video for "Lille", made by Jamie Hannigan and Maeve Clancy. They spent weeks making this beautiful book from scratch and I think it's breathtaking. I hope you enjoy it...

I've had a wonderful year and I hope you have too,

Lisa x

ps. If anyone is at a loss for present buying give these a try -

Mrs Moynihan's flapjacks

125g (4oz) butter
90g (3oz) golden syrup
90g (3oz) light muscovado sugar
250g oats
pinch of salt
Buttered shallow cake tin about 20 x 30 (8x12 inches)

Melt the butter, sugar syrup and salt in a saucepan. Stir in the oats (add chocolate chips or fruit or nuts if you like). Spoon into the buttered tin.Bake for 30 minutes at 180C. Leave to cool and then chop into flapjacks.

I have never left any to cool.

The video for Lille is adorable and that book is very amazing. Wow, I can't believe it was made from scratch. Very impressive!

I saw you on tour (in DC) with Jason and instantly fell in love with your music. I hope you can swing back to the US soon so you can share more of your beautiful music with us. Would definitely love to see you and the band live again.

Happy holidays!

Awesome video. Would be nice if a higher-resolution version was made available. Kept squinting trying to see the artwork detail. I made a pop-up *page* once and it was a lot of work. I'm amazed at how much effort it must have taken to do all that. (Oh yes, and the music was lovely too :-)

My wife and I saw you in concert at Berkeley's Greek Theater and now your album is on permanent rotation around our house. Please do come back to the Bay Area.

Happy holidays. Looking forward to the next album :-)

Sea Sew is the first newly released C.D. I have purchased this year. The songwriting is breath-taking in its beauty. I am listening to it alongside such artists as Judee Sill , which to me is a huge compliment for a first foray into solo music making.  Long may you run , Lisa.  And , from a professional drummer , congratulations to all the musicians for their understated and very tasteful playing.  Victor Scott.    www.junk4funk.co.uk

Well, is a pleasure for me have the possibility of writing you, because I'm Chilean and I never thought that I could have some kind of communication with you... Lisa, I heard you a few months ago, in television (Live from Abbey Road) with Damien Rice. You seem very simmilar to me, and that's what I found interesting, cause I'm a singer (a beginner) too. Since I saw you, I started to listen you and I loved your music. I am very impressed for how you sing and transmite your feelings with the music. Thank you Lisa, for teach me (without you know) about music more than I can explain...
I hope that someday you come to Chile! Although I'm from Concepción (not capital city) I will run to see you!

pd. Sorry for my English. I'm 18 years old and I have a lot to learn about your language! Hope you can understand me!

A big hug from far far away

Brilliant video!  Very creative in it's simplicity and the books are wonderful, kudos to the artist(s) who created them!  Lisa's obvious joy with them makes the video so much fun to watch - I particularly like when she peeks through the 'hauling into the boat' page!  Best wishes to all for 2009.

Dear Ms. Hannigan, up until now I wouldn't have been able to spot you in a Garda line up, but your voice.......which I first heard on The Cake Sale...wow....and the great thing is that Sea Sew carries on where that left off.
I hope that the gigs in the States go well.
When you get back this side of the world, will you please try to come in the Geneva direction?

I love your music and I wanted to see your concert in Chicago pretty bad, but ticketmaster is just ridiculous. They add $6 per ticket for Convenience charges, and another $5.50 for ordering online... I was going to buy 4 tickets for $60....  but when Ticketmaster charges almost $30 just for the Privilege to order through there website, I instantly changed my mind. Is there a way to buy from either your own website or at the location?

keep on singing, you are such a talented musician!!!

wow and i always remeber and listen you singing "Desafinado". I don't know if you remember. Some wonderful singers tried to do it, but you're perfect on it! PERFECT!

So we're waiting! Kisses from Brazil!

Hey Lisa,
i know the following will sound mellow as hell but so be it.
Ironically I always seem to connect the 'Lille' song with the fact that after the Lille concert you weren't there on stage anymore.
Anyway, I went to the Brussels gig. The gig after Lille. To hear you, but you weren't there anymore.
So i think it would be the right and most symbolic thing to do to start your future tour off in Belgium.

Deal?

Hi Lisa

So lovely to hear your voice coming to the fore after your time with Damien.  It was frustrating knowing your talent was there but we couldnt really get to appreciate it!

I am relieved to hear somebody else eats chocolate biscuit cake for breakfast!  I have to admit to being a 3am fan muncher when the choc biscuit cake is in the fridge too!

Looking forward to hearing so much more of you.
